ACT member and ALMA fellow Gloria Kenyatta defends her dissertation

On November 14, 2024, ACT member and ALMA Fellow Gloria Kenyatta defended her doctoral thesis on “The Effects of Participatory Processes on Public Policy Development in Kenya's Devolved Governments” at the ABI.

Her work analyzes public participation processes under the new Kenyan Constitution of 2010 and examines the differences and similarities in the two counties of Nairobi and Lamu. Her research highlights the importance of local specificities in ensuring broader participation, such as the use of town criers in Lamu. Gloria Kenyatta contributes to a better understanding of how political decision-making processes can become more legitimate, which is of great importance for many current debates on democratization and development.

Gloria Kenyatta has been an ALMA Fellow at the ABI since 2021 and received a KAAD scholarship for her doctoral thesis. Her supervisors Ewald Eisenberg (University of Applied Sciences Kehl), Andreas Mehler, and the ACT congratulate Gloria Kenyatta!
