The event series ‘Africa in Germany - Visibly Indispensable’ makes the significant contributions of the African diaspora in business, politics, science and culture visible. Initiated by German - Africa Insight (GAI) e.V., the programme brings together experts, cultural practitioners and the public to promote intercultural exchange and recognise the crucial role of African actors in German society.

An interactive event format with high-calibre guests

From 8 March to 26 September 2025, Freiburg will be transformed into a stage for dialogue, exchange and inspiration. The series of events comprises six interactive action days with lectures, panel discussions, art and literature events as well as a concluding gala evening on 27 September 2025.

To kick things off on 8 March 2025 at 7 pm in the Haus des Engagements (Rehlingstraße 9, 79100 Freiburg), Gabi Rolland (Member of the State Parliament) and Dr Blessing Durodola (UniFreiburg) will talk about the importance and visibility of the African diaspora. The event will be accompanied by musical contributions and African delicacies.
